We conducted a demonstration of the ARuCo marker recognition system for one of the largest wholesale and retail chains of grocery and non-food destinations. The customer plans to use this technology as an auxiliary tool for accounting for the movement of goods in the middle of the supermarket.
Our customer had the task of tracking the movement of cargo trolleys - roller cages, in the middle of the supermarket warehouse between the areas of acceptance of goods, short-term storage, as well as the zones of the trading hall and laying out.
In the supermarket, such carts are usually about 200 pcs. They move products for laying out on the shelves. To reduce the time of stay of products that require strict temperature conditions outside the refrigerator zone, it is necessary to control the movement of cargo carts.
Another function that the customer will be able to solve with the help of this technology is the help of the store staff in quickly finding the roll cage with the right product and filling the supermarket shelves in a timely manner.
For these purposes, Verne experts proposed to implement a video analytics system for AruCo tokens as the most suitable.
AruCo markers are a synthetic square marker consisting of an internal binary matrix that defines its identifier. Due to the simple structure of the marker, the process of processing it is quite simple and fast.
We produced unique two-color black and white markers for the customer, placed them on roller cages, pre-entered the markers into the database, connected existing security cameras to the video analytics system for code recognition ARuCO.
The system quickly and accurately recognizes the ARuCo code, determines its location and stores it in the log.
By code number, the customer can at any time find objects of interest in the video archive, configure reaction rules, transfer data for processing to other software integrated with the video surveillance system.
All information about the time of arrival, unloading, movement between the laying areas enters the customer's management system and from there reports of responsible persons are generated according to the necessary criteria.
The first notification of ARuCo tokens appeared in 2014. AruCo markers were originally developed to solve the problem of estimating camera orientation when used in various applications, including augmented reality applications.
Now this technology is often used in product production, in assembly shops, on the territory of factories, factories, greenhouses to account for types of goods, pallets and quick search in the archive.
In AruCo warehouse complexes and logistics distribution centers, markers are used to track the movements of any product or batch of goods from the moment of receipt to shipment to customers.
