At the General Meeting 2024, organized by Kharkiv IT Cluster, which VERNA has been part of the IT community for the ninth year, talked about new opportunities for the development of the Ukrainian IT sector and achievements in 2024. This event brought together more than 150 key players of the Ukrainian IT industry, including both founders and executives of the Cluster, as well as partners of the Cluster. The event was held simultaneously in three cities - Kharkiv, Kiev, Warsaw - and also had an online format, which allowed to attract participants from different parts of Ukraine and the world.
During 2024, Kharkiv IT Cluster has achieved significant progress in the development of the Ukrainian IT sector. The community actively participated in major international exhibitions and events, presenting Ukrainian innovation potential on the world stage.
2024 has become a special year for Kharkiv IT Cluster, as we have actively declared ourselves in the international arena for the first time. In April, we took part in the largest industrial exhibition in the world, where we presented our new project — the European Digital Innovation Hub (ECIC). Subsequently, we became part of a business mission in the Czech Republic, where we also demonstrated Ukrainian IT technologies. At the European Cluster Conference in Brussels, we shared the experience of the Ukrainian IT community in the face of challenges and uncertainties. Participation in these international events emphasized that Ukraine is a center of expertise and innovation, and local IT companies successfully operate at the global level and are open to cooperation, said Olga Shapoval, Executive Director of Kharkiv IT Cluster.
One of the main focuses of the event was participation in the restart of technical education. VERNA's participation in this initiative was an important step in supporting the development of IT education, which is critical to ensuring the sustainable growth and innovation potential of the Ukrainian IT industry. In the face of war and economic challenges facing the country, investments in education are strategically important, because they shape the future generation of specialists capable of creating world-class technological solutions.
In May of this year, VERNA together with IT Cluster Kharkiv organized a workshop “Integrated Solutions for Smart City” within the framework of the Open IT program for students of technical universities.
Oleksandr Slykov, Technical Director of VERNA, spoke about the development of the Smart City concept, starting with the creation of the main IT infrastructure and ending with security and monitoring systems.
The features of using the LoRaWAN network to build data collection stations, as well as a platform for managing and monitoring IoT devices were considered.
They also discussed the principles and possibilities of applying neurovideo analytics in Smart City and shared their own experience in implementing various video analytics systems.
VERNA expressed its readiness to continue to actively support the educational initiatives of Kharkiv IT Cluster, because the training of highly qualified personnel is the basis for the development of the industry. Cooperation with technical universities, colleges and schools will not only increase the level of training of specialists, but also provide enterprises with the necessary talents for the implementation of complex projects.
One of the key topics of discussion at the General Meeting 2024 was the problem of booking IT specialists, which is especially relevant in the conditions of war. Kharkiv IT Cluster actively cooperates with the authorities to implement effective booking tools that will ensure the stability of the export industry and retain key professionals for business.
Kharkiv IT Cluster is also actively working on social initiatives, including the RazomTech project, aimed at supporting veterans and their reintegration into the IT sphere. This project includes training programs, career counseling, and creating a friendly environment for veterans in the technology industry.
VERNA, understanding the importance of corporate social responsibility, supports these Cluster initiatives. The company believes that helping veterans integrate into civilian life is an important component of the sustainability of society and the economy. RazomTech provides an opportunity for veterans to gain new skills and find their place in the IT field, which is an important step towards their social adaptation.
A new project was also announced at the General Meeting 2024, which opens opportunities for Kharkiv IT Cluster participants to receive funding for international initiatives. Each member of the Cluster will have the opportunity to receive a grant, which will allow them to promote their products in the global market and expand international cooperation. VERNA plans to use these opportunities to further promote Ukrainian technologies on the European market.
VERNA remains a reliable partner for business, government and public organizations, contributing to the development of innovation, strengthening Ukraine's technological independence and increasing the level of security in all sectors of the economy. The company is ready to continue to cooperate with Kharkiv IT Cluster in the implementation of strategic projects that will contribute to the sustainable development of the IT industry in Ukraine and in the international arena.
