Objectives of the project


To ensure controlled and secure access to information resources, the customer needed to update the existing data storage system, which did not meet the growing level of requirements. To provide the customer's core services, it was necessary to implement a high-performance array with advanced functionality that integrates well into the storage area network (SAN) of the holding.

Special requirements for the solution


• Ensure compatibility of the solution with previous generations of SSDs, which the customer has been operating for several years.

• Provide opportunities for further development of the IT system of the holding, taking into account the changing needs of the business.

• Provide service service of a solution with a defined level of quality during the warranty period.

Description of the solution


During the tender procedure, VERNA offered from its portfolio solutions for building a SAN storage system manufactured by EMC. The decision was made by the customer as optimal in terms of requirements and reasonable in cost. The high-performance EMC CLARiiON CX4-120 disk array with an availability level of 99.999%, typical for hi-end systems, was used to build the SSD. At the hardware level, there is support for virtual technologies, which the customer plans to implement in the near future. Work performed by VERNA as part of the project included consulting, supply, assembly and system verification. The solution was put into operation by the customer, whose specialists had sufficient experience in operating the previous generation system.

Features of the solution


• Provided system operation with the number of connected servers up to 30. Further scaling of the SZD and expansion of the SAN are provided.

• Support for various types of disks using SATA and FC interfaces is provided for various customer tasks.

• Data backup mechanisms are applied in the solution without stopping critical applications.

• Advanced functionality of local and remote data replication is used.

• Implemented system performance control using CLARiiON array management software, which runs directly on the array without a dedicated server.

Results and benefits of project implementation


Solved business tasks of the customer:

• Customer's capital costs are optimized through the correct choice of hardware platform, configuration and solution functionality.

• The solution reduced the cost of storing large amounts of information at the scale of the entire holding.

• Provided storage of information with a high level of reliability.

• The solution provided the necessary level of security and control of access to information.

• The SSD is compatible with the equipment available to the customer, ensures the continuity of the existing and new system. Thanks to this, the customer retained the previously accumulated experience in the operation of the SZD.
