The need for modernization of the company's network infrastructure is due to the transition of the DEC to a qualitatively new level of service. The provider is constantly expanding the range of services, including local area network services and new service options. The continuity and availability of the company's services is ensured by the stable operation of the basic network infrastructure. Due to the increase in the number of users and the volume of traffic, the load on the network has increased significantly, and the existing infrastructure has reached the limit of its productivity, which led to the decision to upgrade.
The objective of the project: to provide a wide range and high quality of services for consumers with the growth of network traffic.
The upgrade, based on the Cisco 7600 series router, allowed DEC to lay the potential for expanding the subscriber base and adding new network services.
The project was implemented by the joint efforts of network specialists VERNA and DEK. Based on the analysis of the existing and prospective load on the IT system of the DEC, the requirements for the availability and security of critical data and network services were formulated. In accordance with these requirements, a solution based on the Cisco 7606-S edge router was developed.
VERNA has fulfilled the key customer requirements for the implemented solution. It was possible to gradually increase capacity and productivity by adding new service modules as the load increased. This approach will protect the customer's investment and avoid the complete replacement of the central link of the network during further changes in the IT infrastructure.
The Cisco 7606-S solution has increased network performance by 15 times, optimally distributes traffic policies between user groups without overloading system resources. The installed complex of equipment allowed to reduce the cost of maintaining the network infrastructure of the DEC, in particular, to optimize personnel costs. Expanded subscriber base and increased volume of services are accompanied by a constant number of engineers.
