Creating and maintaining a cloud infrastructure for a network of premium cosmetics and perfumery stores

The events of the current year have presented many challenges and verification questions to the business. One of the main points of the check was the assessment of readiness for work in the “closed door” mode. Even during the quarantine, the main trend in the retail business was the need to strengthen positions online. Companies not only launched advertising campaigns through social networks and online platforms, but also opened new and modernized existing online stores.

 

About the project

With the development of access to their products, large-scale retail businesses are faced with the need to combine them into a single effective information system — available at any time and with the ability to withstand peak loads. The use of cloud solutions helps to ensure such a flexible and sustainable approach and job security. In addition, “clouds” allow you to quickly respond to changes - with a minimum number of technical specialists.

One of our clients, the largest Ukrainian chain of premium cosmetics and perfumery stores BROCARD, also opted for cloud IT infrastructure and hosted its online store BROCARD.UA on the basis of the popular cloud platform Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Our company “Brocard-Ukraine” entrusted the construction and further technical support of the infrastructure.

The project went through several stages:

• assessment of technologies presented on the market,

• choosing an approach to building infrastructure between “on-premise” and “cloud”,

• coordination of the chosen approach with the joint and IT development strategy of “Brocard-Ukraine” in the context of a dynamically changing business environment.

At every stage, we worked closely with the customer's representatives. After a detailed analysis and taking into account the experience of working with software and server programs, our team defined the configuration, rules and policies of proactive monitoring, created procedures for rapid updating of services to new versions.

We then transferred the data to the prepared infrastructure, tested both the infrastructure and the site operations, set up monitoring, backup and regulations, thanks to which regular verification of key components is carried out.

System security is provided by AWS and Cloudflare.

In the first 4 months, we achieved the planned results in both load and performance and proved the effectiveness of the chosen technology.

Brocard-Ukraine -operator of the perfumery and cosmetics market of Ukraine in the luxury segment.

As of 2022, the company has 97 stores in 26 cities of Ukraine under the brands BROCARD, Kiehl's and M.A.S., online stores BROCARD.UA and LETU.UA, 1,700 employees and 1,500,000 regular customers.

It was from the Brocard store in 1997 that a new history of premium cosmetics and perfumery in Ukraine began. The company was among the top best employers in Ukraine three times.
