As a result of the implementation of the three-year project, FUIB's basic IT infrastructure was created, which includes 11 branches and 130 branches, a large fleet of equipment, heterogeneous environments, services and applications.
For the complex distributed infrastructure of the bank, the means of operational and reliable management were necessary. The bank needed to develop and implement solutions for centralized software deployment and update, proactive monitoring of network applications, devices and services.
• Ensure compatibility of Microsoft products with existing bank environments and applications.
• Guarantee the continuity of business processes during the implementation and operation of the management system.
• Compliance with IT management cost reduction requirements.
The management system is designed, built and implemented on the basis of Microsoft System Center 2007 family products. The following complexes and services are deployed:
• System Center Operation Manager 2007 — provides monitoring of the state of servers, network services and devices, collecting event logs.
• System Center Configuration Manager 2007 — provides centralized management, hardware and software data collection, centralized installation of applications and operating systems.
• License management services, accounting of application time.
Databases are based on Microsoft SQL 2005 SP2. The complexes of the centralized management system are located on 22 servers, which are located in the FUIB head office in Donetsk and in the regional branches of the bank throughout Ukraine. All servers are running Windows Server 2003 R2.
Continuity of operation of the complexes is ensured by the clustering of critical servers (5 clusters created) and automated backup of all components. The work actively used the creation of group policies, work with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory system services.
During the implementation of the management complex based on the products of the Microsoft System Center family, VERNA developed additional functional modules that were not initially supported by Microsoft System Center 2007 products. Additional components that extend the functionality of Microsoft products include:
• Centralized processing and saving of errors occurring on workstations and servers.
• Centralized accumulation and storage of security event logs from all servers.
• Monitor the status of IBM Lotus services and servers.
• Collection of additional information about workstations.
• Monitoring network topology built on Cisco hardware using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007.
• Other components that extend the functionality of the control system.
• Centralization of IT infrastructure management, improving reliability and manageability.
• Reducing IT infrastructure management costs.
• Continuity of financial services through fully managed business processes.
• Predictability of quality of service for customers and employees of FUIB.
First of all, we got a powerful tool, the value of which is difficult to overestimate.
The management system provides active monitoring of about 400 servers for various purposes, 1200 computers at workplaces, about 1000 “thin clients”, all applications, network devices and services. Now, being in the central office, we can remotely monitor the warehouse and condition of equipment in any branch, install or replace software in any of our branches.
